Anne facilitated my PDP meetings during the very first year there was a PDP. The program was just being created, but the ambiguity of the program didn’t stop Anne from agreeing to take on a leadership role. Ultimately her participation helped shape the program.

You know science and chemistry and provide valuable insight through your experience with other private schools. Also love that you have pushed and seem to be getting a new course offering of organic chemistry. These aren’t obvious examples of being an ambassador for EPS, but by pushing these ideas and courses, it makes our school better both from the inside and the outside.

Anne thinks a lot about how her students will fare once they leave EPS, and she’s incredibly dedicated to making sure that they have the skills that they need to be successful in college and beyond. This means that Anne does not shy away from challenging conversations with students, all in support of their future endeavors. I can’t think of a better way to represent our school than by equipping our alumni with what they need to succeed in the world.

I’ve observed Anne in a variety of settings. Informal interaction is positive, comfortable – and sometimes humorous. Anne interacts with students and colleagues easily and productively.  In some formal settings (faculty meetings) Anne can sometimes appear to be impatient or otherwise frustrated when voicing responses to questions. It’s not confrontational, it sounds more like irritation.

One of my favorite aspects of Anne is that she “walks the walk” and can really speak to the experience of being a full-time teacher in the classroom trenches (sorry for the military metaphor). She has developed curriculum and courses at EPS, supported students across the learning spectrum, and is highly dedicated to her discipline and the craft of teaching. She can speak to many aspects of the EPS experience first-hand and her hard work, effort, and dedication comes through in her responses. She has high standards for herself, her students, and her colleagues, and these standards help raise the bar of inquiry and achievement at EPS. A true “master teacher,” Anne models the skills of an experiences classroom teacher and she generously mentors fellow teachers, no matter the career phase they are in.

I love seeing Anne at school dances. She loves being there and she is both fun and friendly to be around, and she helps maintain expectations for good student behavior.

Anne’s wisdom and experience allow her to provide perspective and context often when I most need it. Having mainly worked at EPS only, I’ve got one way of seeing how things are done. Thankfully, Anne knows how and when to share her perspective of having taught at other schools.   To think of an area of improvement. I guess this strength of wisdom and experience can sometimes be a weakness. Given her previous experiences in teaching college, I think sometimes those expectations are carried into our classroom. And because of that sometimes, definitely more common in her earlier years with EPS, she didn’t always seem to meet each student where they’re at.

Anne has been a team leader for EBC trips this year and last year. Last year, she provided an online experience that allowed new students and returning students to get to know each other better while gaming online.
